How to change the phone number on your account

Your mobile number protects your money. It is what we use to confirm payments and to verify that it is really you making changes, so we ask you to confirm the change from both phones. This takes about a minute.

Before you start: have both phones with you, the one currently on your account and the new one. If you no longer have access to your old number, do not start here. See I've lost access to my old phone number below.

Step 1: Enter your new number

Go to ProfilePersonal information, replace your phone number with the new one, and save. Include the country code (for example +34600000000).

Step 2: Confirm on your current phone

We send a code by SMS to the number already on your account. Enter it to authorise the change.

This step is what keeps your account safe. Your phone number is a key to your account. We do not let anyone change it using only the new number. If somebody else got into your account and tried to move your number to their own phone, they would be stopped here, because the code goes to your phone, not theirs. This is part of the regulated payment-security rules (strong customer authentication) our banking partner operates under.

Step 3: Confirm on your new phone

Once step 2 is accepted, we send a second code to your new number. Enter that one to finish.

Step 4: Done

Your new number is now active and verified. Your account level and IBAN are unaffected, and future payment confirmations go to the new number.

Good to know

  • Two codes, two phones. The first goes to your old number, the second to your new one. If a code does not seem to work, check you are reading it from the right handset.
  • Nothing changes until step 3. If you close the page during step 1 or 2, your old number stays active and verified. You can start again whenever you like.
  • Between step 2 and step 3, your number counts as unverified. That is normal and it is why we ask you to finish step 3 straight away. Some actions that need SMS confirmation may be unavailable until you do.
  • Codes expire. If yours has timed out, use Resend code and we will send a fresh one to the same phone.
  • Did not get the SMS? Check signal and that the number was typed correctly including the country code, then use Resend code. Numbers that cannot receive SMS (some VoIP or landline numbers) will not work.

Common questions

Why do I need to confirm on my old phone?

So that only you can move your number. If changing your number needed only a code sent to the new phone, anyone with your password could enter their own number and take over your payment confirmations. Requiring the old phone closes that gap. Until you enter both codes, your existing number stays in place and active. We never move your number based on the new number alone.

I entered the code from my new phone in step 2 and it was rejected.

Step 2 only accepts the code sent to your current number. Use Resend code and check the phone that is already on your account.

Can I use the same number as my company account?

Yes. A company and its legal representative must share the same contact number. Each account is identified by its own email and login.

Will this affect my IBAN, balance, or verification level?

No. Your IBAN, balance, and history are untouched. Your verification level returns to normal as soon as you complete step 3.

You will not be able to complete step 2 on your own, and for security we cannot skip it. Contact support@moneybeat.eu from the email address registered on your account and our team will verify your identity another way.

Please do not share codes, passwords, or card details in that email. We will never ask you for them.
